Dehradun, 3 Aug: Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) was paid a courtesy call by Prof Shiv Shankar Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, at the Lok Bhavan here on Monday. During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to the preservation, promotion and wider dissemination of the Sanskrit language.

On the occasion, the Governor said that Sanskrit is not merely a language but the foundation of India’s ancient knowledge tradition, culture and civilisation. He described Sanskrit as an invaluable heritage and a vast repository of knowledge, emphasising the need to make it accessible to the younger generation in ways that are relevant to contemporary times.

The Governor observed that this is an era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technology. He stressed the importance of integrating technology with the study, research and promotion of Sanskrit so that its scientific relevance and rich intellectual heritage gain greater recognition at the global level.

He also suggested that Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University and Uttarakhand Sanskrit University sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration. The Governor said that the joint efforts of the two universities could open new avenues in Sanskrit education, Vedic studies, research and innovation.
