Mussoorie, 13 Oct: As part of the ongoing campaign against the smuggling and sale of illicit liquor in Mussoorie, the local police arrested a youth today near ‘Pani Wala Bend’ with 54 quarter-bottles of ‘8 PM Gold’ liquor. The accused failed to produce any valid licence or documentation for the liquor. The police have registered a case against him under the Excise Act and initiated legal proceedings.

Mussoorie Station House Officer (SHO) Narendra Singh stated that, following instructions from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, continuous patrolling and checks are being conducted in the Mussoorie area to curb the smuggling and sale of illicit liquor and narcotics. While a police team was patrolling near ‘Pani Wala Bend’, they stopped a suspicious individual and searched him, recovering 54 quarter-bottles of liquor from his possession. Upon questioning, the accused was identified as Sumit (30), son of Rampal Singh, a resident of Bapu Nagar, Jakhan, Dehradun.
