Dept of Clinical Psychology at Himalayan Hospital observes World Mental Health Day

Dehradun, 10 Oct: A free mental health camp was organised by the Department of Clinical Psychology at Himalayan Hospital, Jollygrant, in observance of World Mental Health Day, today.

More than 50 patients benefited from the camp, at which Dr Malini Srivastava provided health advice and information on the symptoms and prevention of mental illnesses.

Dr Malini Srivastava, Head of the Department, emphasised the importance of treating individuals with mental illnesses with compassion. Proper mental health care helps individuals lead happy and fulfilling lives. In this regard, various awareness programmes were organised by the Department of Clinical Psychology.

A seminar was held on 9 October, during which Dr Prakash Keshaviah shared insights on a holistic approach to life based on the teachings of Dr Swami Rama.

Additionally, on 10 October, a poster exhibition and sticker distribution drive aimed to raise awareness about mental health. Several individuals, including Rashi Bhatnagar, Shivani Bhandari, Vanya Nanda, Divyanshu, Princess Rawat, Garima Sharma, Arushi, Lakshmi, Deepali Chauhan, Aditya Bhandari, Nishant Nayal, Abhay Kapoor, Rishita Chamoli, Ojasvi Dwivedi and Himanshu contributed to the awareness campaign.

Students from Himalayan School of Yoga Sciences and Himalayan School of Biosciences actively participated. Furthermore, various activities were organised by the Mental Health Department of Himalayan College of Nursing, with guidance from Principal Dr Sanchita Pugazhendi and support from Dr Grace Madona Singh, J Manoranjani, Sandhya Negi, Jayant and Krishna Mohan.

Speakers noted that stress and anxiety are mental health disorders that are rapidly increasing. These conditions affect people of all ages, making it crucial for everyone to prioritise their mental health, just as they do their physical health.
