New Delhi, 6 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today indicated that a strict land law will be brought soon in the state. He stated that the bill in this regard will be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the state assembly. The CM stated this while addressing the gathering at the Uttarakhand Niwas, here, today.

Earlier, he inaugurated the Uttarakhand State Guest House, ‘Uttarakhand Niwas’, in Chanakyapuri here.

The newly inaugurated state guest house in Chanakyapuri has been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 120.52 crores. Before inaugurating the newly constructed state guest house, the CM first offered prayers for the peace of the departed souls in the Marchula bus accident in Almora district and also prayed for strength and patience for their families.

Speaking at the event, Dhami described the inauguration of Uttarakhand Niwas as a historic moment. He asserted that the culture, folk art, and architecture of Uttarakhand have been integrated into Uttarakhand Niwas, which preserves the unique artistic heritage of the state. The walls of the building are traditionally crafted with beautiful stones in the hill style, which also helps to revive the cultural legacy of the state.

He added, “This building will elevate our rich cultural traditions and provide better facilities to guests from Uttarakhand, the country, and abroad.”

The CM added that the building offers comfortable accommodation alongside a reflection of Uttarakhand’s culture in the national capital. He also emphasised upon the importance of serving traditional dishes at Uttarakhand Niwas, along with a special counter to sell coarse grain products, organic goods, and iconic state products such as Uttarakhand’s identity caps, picholas, shawls, jackets and more. He noted that these high-quality products are made by the women self-help groups of the state, providing a unique experience for visiting guests.

He also expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the construction of Uttarakhand Niwas and commended the workers for their dedication.

The CM also mentioned that 9 November marks the beginning of the silver jubilee year of Uttarakhand. He expressed confidence that the inauguration of Uttarakhand Niwas would further strengthen the resolve to make the state the best in the country and inspire collective efforts to push the state forward.

The CM asserted that the government is taking strong action against issues like love jihad and spit jihad in the state. A strict land law would be introduced during the upcoming budget session, a move that, he observed, is long awaited. “The state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every person in Uttarakhand,” he concluded.

The CM claimed that Uttarakhand is the first state to take steps toward implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and work on it is progressing rapidly. The state has also introduced the most effective anti-copying law in the country, which has inspired greater confidence among the youth. The youth are being recruited from every district, and over the past three years, the government has filled 18,500 government posts. Strict laws have been implemented to prevent religious conversions in the state, safeguarding the sanctity and culture of Devbhoomi. More than 5,000 illegally occupied government lands have been freed from encroachment, he asserted.

Dhami claimed that, in recent years, numerous important schemes and policies have been implemented to ensure overall development of the state. As a result, Uttarakhand has been ranked first in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals index released by NITI Aayog. The state is also recognised as an ‘Achiever’ in Ease of Doing Business and a ‘Leader’ in Startups. Uttarakhand has witnessed a 33 percent increase in GSDP and has emerged as a leading state in providing employment to youth, with the unemployment rate decreasing by 4.4 percent in just one year. Additionally, the state has been awarded the first prize for being the most film-friendly state in the country.
