Anand Prakash Badola appointed ADG, Coast Guard

Dehradun, 21 Nov: Flag Officer Anand Prakash Badola has been appointed Additional Director General of the Indian Coast Guard following his promotion.

During his career spanning nearly 35 years, Badola has commanded various classes of ships besides serving as Coast Guard Commander for the Eastern and Western Regions. With this honour, he has joined the league of the most decorated Armed Forces Officers for distinguished and dedicated service. The Flag Officer is a visionary planner and executor with a perfectionist touch. He has contributed immensely to the endeavour of the Indian Coast Guard to mature into a highly professional and competent premier maritime security force in just four decades.

Synchronised efforts under his vigilant command have strengthened India’s stature as a premier maritime security provider in the region and made the nation proud.

Earlier, he was awarded the Tatrakshak Medal for Meritorious Service from the Defence Minister at an investiture ceremony held at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, on 9 October 2021. He was conferred the President’s Tat Rakshak Medal for Distinguished Service on 26 January last year.

Badola joined the Indian Coast Guard in 1990. He is a specialist in Navigation and Direction and an alumnus of the prestigious US Naval Staff College, Newport, USA. On being promoted to Flag rank in May 2017, he served as Chief of Staff at, both, Coast Guard Eastern and Western Seaboard Headquarters. He successfully served as Commander Coast Guard Region (West) in Mumbai from December 2019 to June 2021.

ADG Anand Prakash Badola hails from Pathol village, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He studied at Asha Ram Vedic Inter College, Vikas Nagar, Dehradun, and SGRR College, Dehradun. He is married to Neelima Badola and has two sons, Karan and Arjun.
