Dehradun, 26 Nov: In view of the spate of road accidents in Dehradun district, the Doon Police have claimed that they have intensified their action against those violating traffic rules in the district. Intensifying their crackdown on traffic rule violators, Doon Police have arrested 16 drivers for drunk driving and confiscated their vehicles.
Following the instructions of SSP Ajai Singh, 34 dumpers/LP trucks found to be overloaded, and 2 utility vehicles were also seized in the past 24 hours across various police station areas in the district. Sixteen drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol have been arrested in addition to confiscating their vehicles.
The SSP has directed all police station in-charges to take effective action against those violating traffic rules to curb road accidents in their respective areas. Late last night, Doon Police conducted a thorough checking campaign across all police station areas, targeting overloading and drunken driving. During this campaign, 34 dumpers/LP trucks and 2 utility vehicles involved in overloading were seized, and court challans were issued to 7 dumpers in addition to arresting 16 drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol and seizing their vehicles. The Police claim that their campaign will continue throughout the district.
