Dehradun, 17 Dec: Reacting to the Income Tax/Enforcement Directorate raid on Congress leader Rajiv Jain this morning, Pradesh Congress Chief Karan Mahara described the action as political vendetta carried out with political agenda just before the municipal elections. It may be recalled that Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the house of Congress leader and property dealer Rajiv Jain in Dehradun and in Delhi today. Rajiv Jain is known to be a close aide of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

Commenting on the raid, Karan Mahara stated that Rajiv Jain has not been active in the party organisation for the past three years due to ill health and has not participated in any party programmes during this period.

Mahara claimed that there had been speculation about which Congress leader’s house would be raided by the ED or CBI before the municipal elections, and, today, the ED raided Rajiv Jain’s house. He alleged that the central government often targets Congress leaders with ED and CBI actions before elections to make headlines. However, he reiterated that Rajiv Jain has been unwell and inactive in the organisation for the last three years.

Mahara claimed that Congress leaders had anticipated such actions just before the elections. He stated that once the ED investigates the land documents, it will become clear under which government the land transactions took place. He expressed confidence that the investigation would reveal the truth and that Rajiv Jain would not be found guilty.
