Dehradun, 29 Dec: Both, the BJP and Congress have started announcing their candidates for municipal corporations, municipalities, and town panchayats for the 2025 Uttarakhand local body elections.
Congress has now released its third list of candidates, which includes five mayoral candidates for the municipal corporations, three chairperson candidates for municipal boards, and six chairperson candidates for town panchayats. For mayoral positions, the party has named Deepak Jatav for Rishikesh, Amresh Balian for Haridwar, Pooja Gupta for Roorkee, Mohan Khera for Rudrapur, and Bhairav Goswami for Almora. In the municipal boards, Beena Negi from Chamba, Hema Verma from Tanakpur, and Geeta Rawal from Bageshwar have been nominated as chairperson candidates. For town panchayats, the candidates are Hazra Bano from Piran Kaliyar, Shahrun from Pandli, Shahjahan from Rampur, Mohan Bhandari from Gairsain, Veer Singh Chauhan from Gaja, and Smita Mishra from Lal Kuan.
Congress spokesperson Sheeshpal Bisht mentioned that the remaining mayoral candidates will be announced soon, as the panel has already been sent to the central leadership.
