Journalists are mirror of society: Minister Subodh Uniyal

Haridwar, 29 Dec: Sanjay Srivastava was honoured with the ‘Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Smriti Award 2024’ at a ceremony held here, today. The event was organised by NYJI at the Press Club of Haridwar, with Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, attending as the Chief Guest.

Minister Uniyal paid tribute to martyr Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, stating that journalists are the mirror of society. He expressed that it was an honour to attend the event in memory of the fearless journalist.

During the ceremony, several individuals who made significant contributions in various fields, including journalism, literature, and sports, were felicitated. Sanjay Srivastava, the Resident Editor of India News, Uttarakhand, received the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Smriti Award 2024 for his contribution to journalism. In his address, Srivastava acknowledged the indelible impact of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi’s fearless journalism, which wrote a piece of history at the cost of his life. He noted that Vidyarthi, at the age of 40, achieved what many could only do in a lifetime of 40 years, making him immortal.

Srivastava added that receiving such an honour increases one’s responsibilities and inspires progress. He also thanked the organising committee. The event was conducted by senior journalist Dharmendra Chaudhary.
