Uttaranchal Press Club: Bhupendra Kandari elected Pres; Surendra Dasila, Gen Secy

Dehradun, 30 Dec: Elections for the Uttaranchal Press Club were held yesterday and results declared late last night. Voting was conducted under the supervision of Election Officer Kunwar Raj Asthana, Assistant Election Officers Laxmi Prasad Badoni, and Dr VK Dobhal.

Bhupendra Singh Kandari was elected President, defeating his only rival, Arun Sharma. Kandari secured 181 votes, while Sharma received 138 votes.

At the same time, Surendra Singh Dasila was elected General Secretary, defeating his only rival, Vinod Pundir. Dasila garnered 169 votes, while Pundir received 144 votes.

For the post of Senior Vice President, Abhishek Mishra got elected with 131 votes while his rival Ashish Uniyal got 127 votes, BS Topwal could get only 30 votes and Gaurav Guleri, 20 votes.

Sulochana Payal won the election for the post of Junior Vice President, securing 178 votes while her rival Rajiv Thapliyal got 130 votes. For the post of Joint Secretary (Women reserved) Rashmi Khatri won the election by securing 199 votes and Prabha Verma could garner only 108 votes. Anil Chandola won the election to the post of Treasurer by securing 138 votes, with his rivals Manoj Singh Jayada getting 115 votes and Rajendra Uniyal getting 60 votes. For the post of Joint Secretary, Abhay Singh Kaintura was elected unopposed and Shivesh Sharma for the post of Auditor.

A total of 11 candidates were in the fray for nine posts of members in the Executive Committee. Those victorious were Manbar Singh Rawat with 272 votes; Sandeep Badola with 241 votes; Deepak Barthwal with 212; Shoorvir Singh Bhandari 207; Kishore Rawat 191; Mohd Asad 179; Raman Kumar Jaiswal 179; Yogesh Raturi, 177 and Pankaj Bhatt with 177. Ambuj Sharma with 140 votes and Deepak Chhabra with 162 votes could not win the election.
