DEHRADUN, 27 Jan: Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Uttaranchal University campus on Friday. Anuradha Joshi, vice-Chairperson of the Governing Council of the University was present as the Chief Guest on this occasion. She began the event by going to the Shaurya Sthal of the University and paid tributes by offering flowers to the brave soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in the protection of the country.
After inspecting the parade by the NCC wing of the University the chief guest hoisted the 111-feet high flag at the Gaurav Sthal of the University. The entire atmosphere was filled with patriotism with the national anthem, NCC song and slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai were rendered on this occasion.
In her address, Joshi said that those people are lucky who get the opportunity to sing the national anthem under the tricolour flag. She said that it is the moral responsibility of all of us to celebrate national festivals and to convey their importance to the coming generation.
Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Rajesh Bahuguna said that the makers of the Constitution have not only given us the most detailed Constitution of the world but have also given a key in the form of the Preamble. Our Constitution is no less than a religious book for Indians and its Preamble is no less than the best prayer of humanity.
Those present on the occasion were Registrar Anuj Kumar Rana, Poonam Rawat, Sonal Sharma, Amit Bhatt, Anil Dixit, JA Nakoti and number of students and faculty members of the university.
