Dehradun, 10 Feb: Under project “Utkarsh,” District Magistrate Savin Bansal’s efforts to modernise teaching and learning in government schools with advanced technology are about to bear fruit. It has been stated by the officials that by the end of February, government schools in remote areas of the district will get new furniture. This project is being carried out with the collaboration and financial support of ONGC and HUDCO. The initiative towards this has been taken by DM Savin Bansal.
In an ambitious project led by the District Magistrate, HUDCO is investing an amount of Rs 2.5 crores in modern LED equipment for the teaching-learning system, while ONGC is committed to contributing an amount of Rs 1.5 crores for furniture and equipment. Bansal’s plan aims to make students modern and competitive, alongside their studies. Soon, online education will be facilitated through LED screens in schools, as a Rs 3.5 crores project by HUDCO is nearing completion.
Bansal has stressed on making proper arrangements in schools across Dehradun district, including basic facilities like whiteboards, LED lights in each room, furniture, and outdoor sports equipment. An amount of Rs 1 crore has been allocated to the Chief Education Officer’s disposal, with funds distributed to block education officers as needed.
He added that to enhance education through sports and entertainment, children will have access to comics, magazines, and newspapers. Not only this, newspapers, magazines, dictionaries, and biographies of great men will also be made mandatory in every school to acquaint students with vocational education and the lives of great personalities.
The DM has directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) and the Block and Sub Education Officers concerned to ensure the availability of basic facilities such as lighting, water, drinking water, and toilets in classrooms. Additionally, arrangements for repairing water tanks, cleanliness, security, and providing quality nutritious food are also being prioritised.
