Dehradun, 3 Mar: Scientist from Illinois State University, Prof J Scott Jordan gave information on various topics related to ‘Scientific and Literary Truths’, here, today.
A workshop was organised at Graphic Era Hill University on the topic ‘Are Scientific and Literary Truths even Really at Odds?’ In the workshop, Prof Jordan told the students that scientific truth and literary truth both try to explain truth in different ways. While scientific truth is based on data and empirical evidence, literary truth, on the other hand, is based on personal experiences and interpretations. He said that scientific and literary truths sometimes contradict each other, but this non-verbal conflict is the result of differences in their objectives and scientific bases of knowledge. Prof Jordan also threw light on various theories through slides.
Dr Gurpyari Bhatnagar of Sharda University also participated in the workshop. The workshop was organised by the Department of English.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, HOD, English Department, Dr Taha Siddiqui, HOD, Media and Mass Communication, Dr Vipin Kumar, Himanshu Negi and students of English Department as well as Mass Communication and Fine Arts were also present in the workshop.
