Ranikhet, 21 Mar: Government PG College, Ranikhet, is set to host a prestigious Nobel Laureate Lecture in Chemistry, marking an important milestone in scientific education and research outreach.
On 9 April 2025, at 6:30 p.m., Prof Morten P Meldal, an internationally acclaimed chemist and Nobel Laureate, will deliver an online lecture, titled “Chemistry is Everything, as Seen Through the Nobel Molecular Adventure of Click Chemistry”.
This event follows the success of the previous Nobel Laureate Lecture in Physics, featuring Prof David J Wineland, a pioneer in Quantum Computation. The lecture will offer students, researchers, and academicians a unique opportunity to explore Click Chemistry, a breakthrough in molecular synthesis and pharmaceutical sciences that has transformed modern chemical research.

At the heart of this collaboration is Dr Bharat Pandey, Coordinator of the Science Popularisation Cell and Assistant Professor, Chemistry, whose commitment has been instrumental in bringing world-class scientific discussions to students. His efforts—from establishing Uttarakhand’s first Virtual Chemistry Lab to organising Nobel Laureate lectures—demonstrate a strong dedication to transforming science education and fostering research-driven learning.
This lecture is being conducted in association with Bhaktivedanta Institute, Kolkata, with Government PG College, Ranikhet serving as a Knowledge Partner. The collaboration strengthens the college’s mission to connect local academia with global scientific advancements, ensuring that students in Uttarakhand gain exposure to cutting-edge research and global scientific discourse.
From Virtual Labs to Nobel Laureate Lectures, Government PG College, Ranikhet has been at the forefront of transforming science education in Uttarakhand, bridging the gap between traditional learning and world-class research opportunities.
In addition to the Nobel Laureate lectures, Dr Bharat Pandey has also organised an online workshop on hydroponics, introducing students to soilless farming techniques and their large-scale applications.
Highlighting the importance of this event, Principal Prof Pushpesh Pandey stated, “Hosting Nobel Laureates and global scientific pioneers is a remarkable step for our students. Such initiatives spark curiosity, encourage research-based learning, and provide direct access to world-class knowledge. Government PG College, Ranikhet remains committed to fostering a strong scientific and research-driven environment.”
Reflecting on his commitment to advancing science education, Dr Bharat Pandey shared, “Science is not just about textbooks; it should be an engaging and thought-provoking journey. Through initiatives like virtual labs, Nobel Laureate lectures, and hands-on research programmes, we aim to connect students with the latest scientific advancements. Our goal is to nurture a generation of research-driven and scientifically curious individuals.”
