CM participates in Students’ Union ceremony at HNB Garhwal Varsity

Srinagar (Garhwal), 18 Apr: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Students’ Union Inauguration Ceremony at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University (HNB Garhwal Central University) Campus, here, today. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to the development of universities and its dedication to advancing Uttarakhand through innovative action plans.

Dhami also reminded the students about Uttarakhand’s distinction as the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) law, describing it as a matter of pride for the people. He also reminded that, over the past three and a half years, the government has provided over 22 thousand government jobs to the youth, resulting in a reduction in the state’s unemployment rate by 4.4 percent. He also noted that Uttarakhand has achieved first place in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals rankings released by NITI Aayog.

The CM also reminded the students about the implementation of the anti-copying law and described this as a historic decision that ensures hardworking and talented students receive their rightful opportunities. He also outlined the government’s ongoing efforts on key projects, including the establishment of Model College, Women’s Hostel, IT Lab, Examination Bhawan, Astro Park, and Science City. Additionally, Dhami emphasised the creation of a favourable environment for startups in the state.

Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat listed the government’s prioritisation of education and urged the university administration and students to collaborate in enhancing the quality of education. He assured the students of government’s readiness to support students in every possible way and its commitment to making higher education institutions world-class.

BJP MLA Vinod Kandari praised the ceremony and extended his best wishes to the students for their new responsibilities. He also encouraged them to actively contribute to social and national development alongside their academic pursuits. Kandari also pledged his full cooperation in the university’s development.

Among those present on the occasion included Vice Chancellor of the central university, Prof Dr Manmohan Singh Rathan, District Magistrate, Pauri, Ashish Chauhan, SSP, Pauri, Lokeshwar Singh, Registrar of the university Rajesh Kumar Dhori, ADM Anil Garbyal, OP Gusain, and Student Union President Jaswant Singh.
