Dehradun, 27 Jun: A state-level space meet will be organised on the theme “Leveraging Space Technology & Applications for Viksit Bharat 2047: Insights from the Himalayan States” at the Mukhyasevak Sadan in the Chief Minister’s Residence, here, on 30 June.

Director of the Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC), Professor Durgesh Pant stated that this one-day workshop is being conducted by USAC in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

The workshop will witness participation from the Chairman of ISRO, the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Secretaries of various state departments, officials from line departments, public and private sector organisations, end-users, and representatives from scientific institutions.

Participants will present ongoing projects and future needs based on the use of space technology in their respective sectors. These presentations will form the basis for preparing a comprehensive development roadmap for the implementation of identified and approved projects to support Uttarakhand’s progress toward Viksit Bharat 2047.

The State Space Meet will be structured around eight major thematic areas, aligning with the core functional domains of various line departments: Agriculture and Allied Sectors; Environment and Energy; Infrastructure and Planning; Water Resources; Health and Education; Disaster Management and Mitigation; Developmental Planning; Technology, Communication and Navigation.

These eight themes encompass 53 line-departments of the state. Scientific assessment will be carried out theme-wise to chart out department-specific roadmaps for the future use of space-based applications.

The action plans and project proposals generated from this State Space Meet will contribute to the Uttarakhand roadmap that will be presented during the Second National Space Meet scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 23 August, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

The workshop will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

Prior to this, a pre-meet seminar was organised on 21 May at USAC, at which officials from state departments held detailed discussions on integrating space technology into their departmental planning and project execution frameworks.
