Dehradun, 27 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the formulation of a robust mechanism to prevent encroachment on government land. Chairing a high-level review meeting at his official residence here, today, he emphasised the need for an effective action plan to stop illegal possession and unauthorised sale of government properties.

The Chief Minister noted that instructions had already been issued to formulate district-wise action plans for removing illegal encroachments on government land. He stressed the need for strict implementation at the district level, with coordinated efforts from Irrigation, Public Works, Forest, and Revenue Departments.

CM Dhami directed the formation of joint teams at the district level to carry out encroachment removal drives. He also instructed the appointment of a nodal officer at the state level to specifically monitor encroachment cases in the plains of the state.

Specific focus was laid on illegal encroachments along riverbanks. The Chief Minister directed strict action against encroachments along the Ganga in Haridwar; removal of illegal occupation along the Kalyani River in Rudrapur; and monitoring and enforcement along the Kosi River in Nainital district.

He also ordered strict legal action against individuals attempting to occupy government land and those involved in forging documents to claim ownership of public property. The Chief Minister asked for foolproof preventive mechanisms against such fraudulent practices.

CM Dhami also instructed Additional Director General of Police (ADG) AP Anshuman to strengthen the verification process for outsiders entering the state. The ADG informed that data on 18 specific parameters is being collected during verification and is being compiled at the state level.

Officials present on the occasion were Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu; Secretary SN Pandey; ADG AP Anshuman; Special Secretary Dr Parag Madhukar Dhakate; and Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari.
