Dehradun, 3 Jul: Eleven people who were trapped on a small island in the Yamuna River were safely rescued by the police today. The incident occurred when the river’s water level suddenly rose, blocking their way back to the shore.

According to the police, they received information from local residents that some men and women were stuck on an island near Ashok Ashram, Dumet. After getting the message, the police quickly reached the spot with the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) and the water police.

The rescue team found 11 people trapped – 7 men and 4 women. All of them were safely brought back to shore. The rescued people said they work as labourers and had gone to the river in the morning. But suddenly the water level increased, and they had no way to return, so they stayed on the island.

The police said that all 11 people were rescued without any injury. The rescued people thanked the police and appreciated their timely help.
