Dehradun, 29 Jul: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran today met Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar and expressed serious concern over the absence of senior doctors from duty at Doon Medical College and other government hospitals in Dehradun.
Jugran informed the Health Secretary that most senior doctors are regularly absent from government hospitals, leaving the treatment of patients largely to interns. He pointed out that, in many cases, this situation results in harm to patients.

He further said that, when senior doctors in Dehradun are unconcerned about government discipline, the condition of health services in remote areas can easily be imagined. Jugran alleged that many senior doctors are engaged in private practice, providing services in private hospitals and nursing homes, while drawing handsome salaries from taxpayers’ money.
The Health Secretary assured Ravindra Jugran that strict measures would be taken in this regard and appropriate action would follow.
