Dehradun, 4 Sep: Tehri Member of Parliament Mala Rajyalaxmi Shah chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Manthan Auditorium, Forest Headquarters, here today to review the progress of centrally-sponsored schemes. During the meeting, she called upon public representatives and departmental officers to work with better coordination to ensure effective implementation of schemes with quality and timeliness for the larger public good.
Shah reviewed progress of a wide range of centrally-sponsored programmes, including the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, PM-KISAN, PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, PM Employment Generation Programme, Shram Portal, MNREGA, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, PM Awas Yojana (Rural), Khelo India, telecom infrastructure projects, PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, Smart City Mission, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, MPs’ Local Area Development funds, and the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. She expressed satisfaction with the overall progress and urged all departments to accelerate developmental work through mutual coordination so that citizens could derive maximum benefit.
During the meeting, Shah expressed strong displeasure at the absence of a senior officer from the Department of Telecommunications at the meeting and sought an explanation from those who failed to attend. She issued strict instructions to the Telecom Department to improve work execution and asked for action on the demand for a mobile tower in Nawada. She directed the ITDA to expedite arrangements for the SWAN network in Chakrata and Vikas Nagar tehsils.
While reviewing the Mining Trust Fund, Shah directed that in mining-affected areas priority should be given to projects in education, health, and sports. She instructed the Minor Irrigation Department to quickly prepare estimates for five incomplete projects to be taken up under MPLADS funds and to begin work immediately after the monsoon. She also directed the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to provide complete details of beneficiaries who had been given machinery and equipment. The Fisheries Department was asked to present a year-wise progress report on fish production in Vikas Nagar and Doiwala, along with working on integrated schemes combining fish and poultry farming.
Reviewing provisions under Khelo India, she directed that a committee be set up at the district level to swiftly resolve issues faced by sportspersons. She stressed the need to provide talented players with sufficient facilities, counselling, and training in Olympic-level sports to help them perform better.
On the issue of road safety, Shah voiced concern over the rising number of accidents and stressed the importance of raising public awareness of traffic rules to ensure smooth and safe travel. She asked the RTO to run awareness drives on traffic and road safety through schools and educational institutions. She underscored that the targets of all centrally-sponsored schemes must be executed in a timely manner while maintaining quality.
Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah and Project Director Vikram Singh gave a detailed account of progress achieved under various schemes. Among those present at the meeting included MLAs Munna Singh Chauhan, Sahdev Singh Pundir, Umesh Sharma Kau, Brijbhushan Gairola and Savita Kapoor. District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, In-charge Forest Officer Neeraj Sharma, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Jai Bharat Singh, Project Director Vikram Singh, several MLA representatives, committee members, and senior officials from various district departments were also present at the DISHA meeting.
