New Delhi, 4 Nov: Former acting Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and President of the All India Minorities Forum for Democracy, Dr Ammar Rizvi, called on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence on 17 Akbar Road, New Delhi, on 2 November.

During the meeting, Dr Rizvi congratulated the Defence Minister on the completion of ten years of defence cooperation agreements between India and the United States, describing them as a major milestone in strengthening bilateral defence relations. He said that these agreements had come at a crucial time when some voices were questioning the essence of the ‘Operation Sindoor’ initiative, and the accords had given a fitting answer to such doubts.

Dr Rizvi also lauded the defence minister’s recent statement advocating the peaceful use of advanced technology in the interest of global harmony. He said the Minister’s words reflected maturity and vision, contributing significantly to peace between India, America, and the wider world.

Raising a developmental concern, Dr Rizvi urged Singh to consider utilising the large tract of land lying unused under the Defence Ministry in Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh. He suggested that the land could be used for establishing arms manufacturing units, thereby promoting self-reliance in the defence sector. Dr Rizvi proposed that if the entire area were not required for such purposes, a Defence Corridor could be established there. He added that such a project would create local employment opportunities for thousands of unemployed youth and enable technically qualified individuals to contribute to national service.

The defence minister appreciated Rizvi’s suggestions and commitment to national interest and assured of positive consideration on his suggestions.
