DEHRADUN, 20 Dec: In a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing community health, the Drishti Eye Institute recently organized a free eye screening camp at Guniyal Gaon, Dehradun. This event was particularly tailored for the elder population, children and underprivileged members of the community, ensuring that those who often face significant barriers to accessing healthcare services could receive the essential eye care they need.
Regular eye check-ups are crucial, especially for older individuals, as they tend to be more susceptible to various eye conditions. The camp offered a thorough range of screening services, including Cataract screening, Glaucoma screening, and Retina screening. Each of these tests plays a vital role in diagnosing common eye illnesses that, if left untreated, can lead to vision loss and significantly diminish the quality of life.
This camp attracted over 100 patients, the response from the local community was overwhelming, showcasing a significant need for such outreach efforts. Many attendees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive free eye care services while acknowledging the challenges they face in accessing healthcare. The camp was not only a medical intervention but also an educational platform where attendees learned about the importance of maintaining good eye health, regular check-ups, and the recognition of symptoms that should prompt immediate professional attention.
Drishti Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Savita Luthra, played a pivotal role in facilitating this community service event. The foundation is deeply committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that enhance well-being and promote social welfare. By organizing initiatives like the Free Eye Screening Camps, Drishti Foundation strives to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, especially for those who may not have the financial means to access such medical services.
Through continuous outreach and education, Drishti’s aim is not just to treat conditions but to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to prioritize their eye health throughout their lives.
