Dehradun, 24 Jan: Speaking to the media during an informal chat, BJP’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh today asserted that BJP Government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has a declared and committed policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. Referring to the latest incident where a DIG level Police officer has been suspended on the orders of CM Dhami over the alleged uniform scam, Chauhan reminded that Dhami Government has acted against more than 300 officials in the state over charges of corruption, which is a clear indication of the government’s policy that corruption will not be tolerated in the state. He alleged that Congress party is rattled by the success of the government in tackling corruption and it is therefore making baseless allegation that the government is acting only against lower ranking officials while leaving high ranking officials. He said that Congress is rattled by the governance and is also making baseless allegation over law and order situation in the state.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress, Chauhan alleged that Congress is distributing a “dose of conspiracy and misinformation” among its workers, which is the primary reason it is facing frustration on every front. He said that despite being repeatedly exposed, the Congress continues to return to the same issues on which it has already failed.
Reacting to the recent statement of Pradesh Congress President Ganesh Godiyal, Chauhan said the actual condition of the Congress, which spent three days criticising the government over law and order, is evident to all. He said that whenever the Congress is exposed in its conspiracies, it falls back on the same issues on which it had earlier been cornered, as it has now run out of ideas.
Chauhan said that CM Dhami has recommended a CBI inquiry into the Ankita Bhandari murder case, while the Congress too had raised the demand merely for the sake of show. Now that the CBI inquiry is set to take place, the Congress has already begun raising questions over it as well. He said a similar pattern was seen during the recruitment scam, when the Congress kept harping on the same issues, but once the decision to investigate was taken, the issue slipped out of its hands.
He said the CBI inquiry would begin soon and the situation would become clear thereafter. However, he added that the Congress remains confused, as at times it claims to have no faith in a CBI inquiry and at other times it demands investigation by the same agency. Chauhan said the Sukwant case is being investigated by an SIT and all proceedings are being carried out strictly in accordance with the law. He added that unless the accused are transferred out of the concerned area, a fair investigation is not possible, making such action necessary and legally valid. He said the government fully sympathises with the victim’s family.
