Mussoorie, 22 Sep: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Maharaja Agrasen, the exemplary figure of the Agrawal community, the Agrawal Mahasabha, Mussoorie, organised a grand, dignified, and social service event, here, today. Held at the Maharaja Agrasen Chowk on Upper Mall Road, the event not only demonstrated reverence but also exemplified compassion and social responsibility in light of the recent Uttarakhand disaster.
The event began with prayers, shawl offerings, and aarti at the statue of Maharaja Agrasen. A silent tribute was paid to those who lost their lives in the recent devastating natural disaster in Uttarakhand. Members of the community prayed for the peace of their souls and offered collective prayers for the speedy reconstruction of the state. On this occasion, Agrawal Mahasabha President Anuj Tayal and General Secretary Sandeep Agarwal stated that Maharaja Agrasen was not just a king, but a symbol of social equality, cooperation, and service. Just as his birth anniversary is celebrated with great pomp every year, this year, recognising the severity of the disaster, a balanced and service-oriented event was organised. They stated that the Agrawal Mahasabha has always extended a helping hand to society during times of disaster—whether it be relief materials, arrangements for displaced people, or financial assistance. Even today, their team is working at the grassroots level.
A special highlight of the event was the Pratibha Samman ceremony, in which 20 meritorious students from the community were honoured with certificates and garlands. Additionally, a talented daughter of the Agrawal community, who recently received an MBBS degree, was also honoured on stage, making the entire community proud. Furthering the spirit of social service, a free Ayurvedic health camp was also organised at the venue. At this camp, hundreds of people were examined by expert doctors, and free consultations and medicines were distributed.
The Agrawal Mahasabha Women’s Cell presented a soulful welcome song, enriching the event emotionally and culturally. The songs and devotional tunes filled the atmosphere with devotion. A feast was held at the end of the programme, in which local citizens, senior members of the community, children, and youth partook of the offerings.
The Agrawal Mahasabha also resolved to continue working for the welfare of society, education, health, and disaster relief. A call was made to inculcate Maharaja Agrasen’s principles of equality, service, and cooperation into the lives of every member of the community.
