Always uphold the Spirit of Nation First: Gov

Dehradun, 12 Dec: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated as the Chief Guest at the Sixth Convocation Ceremony of Uttaranchal University, here, on Friday. On this occasion, he presented medals and degrees to the graduating students, extended his best wishes to them, and wished them a bright future. The Governor also released the university’s souvenir.

In his convocation address, the Governor said that this ceremony is not merely an occasion to award degrees, but a testament to the hard work and commitment of the students. He expressed hope that the degree recipients would use their knowledge in the service of society and nation-building. He added that the true purpose of education is not only intellectual development but character-building, and in today’s changing global environment, the importance of honesty, discipline, and moral values has increased even further.

The Governor urged the students to always uphold the spirit of “Nation First.” He said that knowledge is meaningful only when it contributes to the development of the country. Encouraging the students, he said that the role of youth is the most significant in building a developed India by the year 2047. He conveyed his best wishes to all graduating students for achieving success in life and enhancing the pride of the nation and the state.

The Governor appreciated the university’s efforts in promoting multidisciplinary education, research, innovation, and a start-up culture.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dharmabuddhi welcomed everyone present and shared information about the university’s achievements. University President Jitendra Joshi, Vice President Ankita Joshi, Anuradha Joshi, Pro Vice-Chancellor Rajesh Bahuguna, Registrar Dr Anuj Rana, along with members of the University Academic Council, Executive Council, and students were present at the ceremony.
