Farmers accord grand welcome to Dhami in Haridwar

Haridwar, 1 Dec: Farmers extended an enthusiastic welcome to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today at the Gurukul Kangri helipad in Haridwar today. The farmers, public representatives and the local officials garlanded the CM and showered him with petals as well as presented him sugarcane. The gathered farmers also honoured him with the title “Kisan Putra” as a mark of respect. The farmers have welcomed the decision of the Uttarakhand Government to hike the price of Sugarcane procurement by Rs 30 per quintal.

The CM expressed his gratitude to the public representatives and farmers for their welcome and honour. He stated that the government is dedicated to the welfare of farmers and is continuously working to increase their income and ensure a fair price for their crops. In line with the demands and sentiments of the farmers, the State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane has been historically set at Rs 405 per quintal, which is Rs 30 more than the previous rate.

Dhami also asserted that ensuring timely payment to farmers by the sugar mills for their produce is a priority for the state. He assured that instructions would be given immediately to rectify any perceived shortcomings in payment or procurement. He highlighted that the Central and State Governments are working together to boost farmers’ income through farmer-friendly policies such as the Kisan Samman Nidhi, determination of Minimum Support Price and timely payments.

The CM also announced the elevation of the road in Gangdaspur in the Laksar region. Furthermore, he stated that the State Government is taking steps to resolve the issues caused by the closure of sugar mills in Iqbalpur and Sitarganj, and relief will be provided to the affected farmers soon.

A large number of farmers from the district, led by State Vice President Swami Yatishwaranand, welcomed the CM. Swami Yatishwaranand praised the CM, stating that many meaningful steps are being taken during his tenure to promote farmer welfare, and the historical increase in the sugarcane price is a significant decision in the interest of the farmers.
