Dehradun, 26 Dec: The BJP today dealt a significant blow to Congress in Srinagar ahead of the civic elections by inducting former Srinagar Municipality President Vipin Maithani into the party. Maithani received formal membership in the presence of State President Mahendra Bhatt and Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat at the party’s state headquarters here today. Independent candidate Asha Upadhyay, who narrowly lost the Municipal President election last time and Congress councillor from Rishikesh Jagat Negi, as well as former Congress candidate Pushkar Bangwal also joined the BJP today.
State BJP President Bhatt welcomed the new members with garlands. In his address, he congratulated them and encouraged their involvement in the civic elections. Bhatt noted that the continuous influx of people from different parties indicates a favourable trend towards the BJP in the state. He urged everyone to work together in January 2025 to break previous records of victory in the civic elections.
State General Secretary Aditya Kothari, State Vice President Mukesh Koli, State Office Secretary Kaustubhanand Joshi, State Media In-charge Manveer Chauhan, Pauri In-charge Vijay Kaparwan, District President Sushma Rawat, and numerous party officials were among those who were present on this occasion.
