Mussoorie, 7 Dec: With the objective of strengthening law and order in the state and effectively curbing criminal activities, the Police Headquarters, Dehradun, had issued instructions on Saturday to conduct a special checking campaign across the state. In this context, extensive and intensive checking was also carried out in Mussoorie on Sunday.
Under the supervision of the Circle Officer, Mussoorie, the Mussoorie Kotwali police team conducted thorough checks of vehicles and suspicious persons at key points in the police station area – Kolhukhet, Kempty Road, and Zero Point. The main objective of the checks was to prevent the movement of illegal items, identify anti-social elements, and strengthen the sense of security among the general public.

During the vehicle checking, 125 four-wheelers and 110 two-wheelers were checked. The police also completed the identification and verification process of 300 suspicious persons. During the checking, action was taken for various violations, and one vehicle was seized for drunk driving. Three court challans, 15 challans under the Motor Vehicles Act were issued, and a compounding fee of Rs 10,000 was collected. Five vehicles were issued challans under Section 81 of the Police Act, and a compounding fee of Rs 1,750 was collected. No suspicious or illegal items were recovered during the police search, which relief to the local public. Local people appeared reassured by the police’s proactive approach and thorough checking during the campaign. According to the officials, such campaigns will continue in the future to further strengthen the security system in the area.
