Dehradun, 25 Nov: In a significant step towards modernising civic amenities, Uttarakhand’s first Pink and Grey High-Tech Smart Toilet Complex was inaugurated today in the Prem Nagar area under the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (Doon Nagar Nigam). The state-of-the-art facility was formally launched today by Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal and Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal. This is being stated as a milestone in the Corporation’s vision to provide clean, secure and technologically advanced public conveniences in busy urban spaces.

The project aims to ensure hygienic and accessible facilities for citizens, with special emphasis on women and differently-abled persons. The Pink Smart Toilet has been designed keeping in mind the safety, comfort and convenience of women and it incorporates modern sanitation technology, automatic equipment and a user-friendly environment. The facility includes three Indian-style squat seats, one Western seat, sensor-based wash basins, automatic hand dryers, an automatic shoe polishing machine, and a dedicated baby feeding and changing room. It also features a selfie point and photo zone, 24×7 CCTV surveillance with security arrangements, high-quality tiling, superior ventilation and efficient cleaning management.

The same facility also entails a grey toilet for the differently abled persons. The new complex is expected to serve as a model for similar facilities in other parts of the city, providing a clean and secure environment in areas where public amenities have traditionally been scarce.
