Dehradun, 16 Oct: Uttarakhand Minister of Sainik Welfare Ganesh Joshi has expressed his gratitude to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for the Central Government’s decision to double the financial assistance provided to ex-servicemen and their dependants. He said the move reflects the Centre’s deep sensitivity towards those brave hearts who have dedicated their lives to the defence of the nation.

Joshi said that, ahead of Diwali, the Government of India has extended a significant gesture of support to ex-servicemen and their families. The destitute grant has been increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000, the education grant from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, and the marriage grant from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

Calling Uttarakhand a “Land of the Soldiers”, he said that almost every household in the state has a someone serving in the armed forces. “This decision is not only financially reassuring but will also further strengthen the morale of military families,” he added.

Minister Joshi said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, continuous efforts are being made at the national level for the honour and welfare of serving soldiers and veterans. “Our double-engine government remains fully committed to the well-being of ex-servicemen and their dependants. The Central Government under Prime Minister Modi and the State Government under Chief Minister Dhami are working in complete coordination for the dignity and welfare of our soldiers,” he stated.
