Dehradun, 22 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today launched a new Hindi Weekly, ‘Adda Insider published and edited by well known journalist Pawan Lal Chand at an event held at a local hotel here today. After the launch, he also had a discussion on various contemporary issues with Pawan Lal Chand. In response to a question regarding cheating mafia in the state, the Chief Minister warned that those attempting to malign the examination system will face stern action. He also asserted that the so-called “cheating mafia” will not be spared under any circumstances. In response to another question, Dhami claimed that the state was currently much more politically stable as compared to the past and that it was because of the people who had chosen stability and development rather than a constant instability that prevailed in the past.
Dhamu recalled that when he assumed charge as the Chief Minister on 4 July 2021, nearly 22,000 posts across various departments were lying vacant. Through the efforts of the present government, more than 25,000 youths have since secured government jobs, once the government enacted a very stringent anti cheating law in the state, not a single recruitment examination has witnessed an incident of malpractice. The government had launched a very transparent and deep investigation against the cheating mafia and had put them behind the bars.
In response to a question, he dismissed the recent incident of alleged rigging in a competitive exam as mere conspiracy to blame the government. He stated that since the government enacted a stringent anti-copying law precisely to safeguard the recruitment process from disruption, many of the criminals engaged in rigging of the examinations are disturbed since they have lost their earnings. This, he noted, has unsettled some vested interests who are now trying to malign the government’s image. He added that even on Sunday a fresh attempt was made to play with the examination, though it was not a case of paper leak as being speculated.
Dhami also accused certain elements of running a conspiracy against the government, claiming that cheating mafias and coaching mafias were behind such efforts. He claimed that the truth will soon come out. Emphasising on his government’s resolve, he asserted that cheating mafias will not be spared in any situation. Dhami also reminded that under previous regimes, the cheating mafia was thriving and almost every competitive examination faced charges of rigging but now the government, by conducting examinations with complete transparency, had defeated the designs of such groups.
In response to another question of Lal Chand regarding a long history of political instability in Uttarakhand ever since its inception, Dhami conceded that the state faced political instability in the past but added that the people of Uttarakhand have now chosen political stability and development, and that the coming years will be remembered for these very qualities.
On the issue of disasters, the Chief Minister remarked that the entire Himalayan belt has been severely affected this year. He said he endeavours to personally reach disaster-hit areas to share the grief of affected families while ensuring immediate relief and rescue operations. The government, he added, is working closely with scientific institutions in the state to study the causes of disasters, improve early warning systems, and minimise damage.
In response to a question regarding the state’s journey in past 25 years and the development, Dhami reminded that during a trip to Kedarnath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared that the current decade would be the decade of Uttarakhand. He said that as the chief minister, he took inspiration from the words of the PM and has taken several bold decisions like UCC, Madrasa Act and action against forced demographic changes and encroachments. He also reminded that Uttarakhand has not only managed investment MoUs worth Rs 3.56 lakh crores during the last global investors summit but has already ensured grounding of projects worth Rs 1.01 lakh crores. He also claimed that over next few years, Uttarakhand would be a leading state in many sectors.
Earlier the first session of the event witnessed another discussion between Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Saurabh Bahuguna and Pawan Lal Chand. Bahuguna claimed that Uttarakhand has undertaken a successful journey of 25 years since its formation in November, 2000. He said that the logic behind the formation of the state was to ensure all round development including in the hills and to deal with migration. This objective, he claimed is being achieved, particularly since last few years since the present government has assumed power. He also lauded the Centre’s support in ensuring a rapid development in Uttarakhand. Bahuguna also cited some of the schemes related to Animal Husbandry, Milk Federations, Dairy Development and Fisheries and asserted that these schemes have augmented the income of the families in the hills and to some extent have dealt with migration. He also reminded that animal husbandry in the hills particularly activities like goat and sheep rearing has benefitted the local people and now after the state government’s contract with ITBP, it has become a lucrative occupation in the hills.
In another session, former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also interacted with well known TV journalist Sunder Solanki and claimed that Uttarakhand as compared to Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh which were also formed at the same time as Uttarakhand, far ahead of them. He reminded that at the time when he was the chief minister, the Planning Commission used to allocate around Rs 500 crores to the state and due to his persuasion, the Planning Commission allocated Rs 1,100 crores but event that amount looks a pittance compared to the current central allocation to Uttarakhand, thanks to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Yet another session was moderated by senior journalist Yogesh Kumar who held discussion with Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram and DG Information and MDDA VC Banshidhar Tiwari who shared their views on Uttarakhand’s journey in past 25 years.
