Garhwal Post Bureau
DEHRADUN, 13 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today inaugurated a three day national PR Conference organised by Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) here. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he observed “PR Vision for 2047” is vital to achieving the goal of a Developed India. He also asserted that public relations has become an integral part of nation-building rather than merely a tool for information dissemination.
Dhami also visited the photo exhibition and handicraft stalls, encouraging local artisans on this occasion. It may be reminded here that Dehradun is hosting the conference from 13 to 15 December, with participation from public relations and communication professionals from across the country. The conference is themed “Developed India @2047: Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” and includes expert sessions on Uttarakhand’s 25-year developmental journey, media and public relations, technology, GST, artificial intelligence, cybercrime, misinformation and international public relations. The participation of delegates from Russia has added an international dimension to the event.
Addressing delegates and young professionals, the CM said that in the digital era, while information is abundant, the challenge of misinformation has become equally serious. He stressed that ensuring accurate, timely and credible communication between the government and citizens is the foremost responsibility of public relations. In a sensitive state like Uttarakhand, which faces natural disasters and holds strategic importance, communication forms the very foundation of public trust, he added.
Pushkar Singh Dhami said that future public relations systems, particularly in disaster management, governance, religious and tourism management, must be fast, technology-driven and sensitive to public sentiment. He emphasised the need to foster a partnership-based relationship between the government and the public, rather than one based on authority alone. Public relations, he said, can act as an effective command centre during crises while also helping to shape a positive national narrative.
Highlighting the state’s progress, Dhami mentioned that under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is moving steadily on the path of development. He said the state’s economy is expected to reach around Rs 3.78 lakh crore in 2024–25, with a notable rise in per capita income, an unprecedented increase in the budget and a historic decline in unemployment.
The CM added that rapid development of infrastructure is underway in education, health, roads, sports, drinking water, and air and rail connectivity. Efforts are also being made to position Uttarakhand as a global hub for religious tourism, wellness, adventure tourism, film shooting and wedding tourism. Projects such as the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Rail Project, the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, ropeway schemes and airport expansion are accelerating development, while year-round tourism is being promoted through the winter travel initiative.
On investment and industry, Dhami said Uttarakhand has made significant progress in implementing proposals received through the Global Investors Summit.
On the occasion, Additional Secretary and Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari was presented a national award by PRSI for excellence in good governance.
Among those present on the occasion included Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Swami Chidanand Muni of Parmarth Niketan, PRSI National President Ajit Pathak, Dehradun Chapter President Ravi Bijarnia, Russian delegates Michael Maslov, Davydova Yulia and Anna Talanina, along with public relations and communication professionals from across the country.
