Dehradun, 3 Jul: State Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction Sainya Dham at Guniyal Village in Dehradun on Wednesday. During the visit, the minister reviewed the progress of the construction work and instructed officials to ensure the final phase is completed swiftly, with special emphasis on quality and architectural aesthetics.
Minister Joshi stated that this grand memorial, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a dream project of the state government, is dedicated to the spirit of Uttarakhand’s brave land and the honour of its martyrs. “As the Minister for Sainik Welfare, it is a privilege for me to be associated with this sacred mission,” he added.
He stated that a date will soon be finalised for dedicating the Sainya Dham to the people of the state, as soon as the in-force Model Code of Conduct ends. The memorial incorporates soil from the courtyards of the state’s martyrs and holy water from rivers like the Ganga and Yamuna, giving it profound spiritual and cultural significance.
Highlighting the design process, Minister Joshi mentioned that detailed studies of major war memorials across the country were undertaken before finalising the architectural blueprint. “This is not just a memorial, but a symbol of valour, sacrifice, and pride. It will inspire future generations to remember the ultimate sacrifices of our heroes,” he said.
He expressed confidence that just as devotees visit the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, people will also come to Sainya Dham to pay their respects to the nation’s martyrs.
Present during the inspection were Major General Sammi Sabharwal (Retd), Director, Sainik Welfare, Brigadier Amrit Lal (Retd), Managing Director, UPNL, Brigadier JNS Bisht (Retd), Additional Secretary, Sainik Welfare, Shyam Singh, along with senior officials from the Sainik Welfare Department and Peyjal Nigam.
