SRINAGAR (GARHWAL), 1 Jan: An MoU has been signed between Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal), and the Uttarakhand Social Welfare Department. Under this agreement, students from Scheduled Castes and Tribes will be prepared for the All India Civil Service Examination.
Prof Rakesh Dhodi, Registrar and District Social Welfare Officer Rohit Singh, signed the MoU. With the support of the state government, Scheduled Castes and Tribes students will now receive special benefits in civil service examinations. Professor MM Semwal, Senior Professor, is the coordinator of this initiative.
Prof Rakesh Dhodi, Registrar, stated that the University will fully cooperate in the construction of a hostel with a capacity of 80 students to effectively implement this initiative of the Uttarakhand government. Land has already been identified for this purpose on the Chauras campus. Currently, rooms have been arranged to run this scheme near Vikas Bhawan in Chauras campus.
At present, Rs 42,65,000 have been allocated to the university to run this scheme. Prof Shriprakash Singh, Vice Chancellor, HNBGU; Prof MS Panwar, Dean, Recruitment and Promotion; Prof MM Semwal, Chief Student Advisor; Rohit Singh, District Social Welfare Officer were present on the occasion.
