Dehradun, 16 Oct: In a resolute move to uphold justice and dignity within the sporting arena, the Uttarakhand State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has issued a notice to the Secretary of Sports, Uttarakhand Secretariat, Dehradun. Issued on 13 October, this directive addresses a grave concern raised regarding the non-compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) within a prominent sports organisation.

The matter, registered on 2 July 2025, calls for the immediate establishment of an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as mandated by law. The SHRC has directed the Secretary, Sports, to furnish a comprehensive report by the appointed date, with proceedings slated for further deliberation on 20 November. This intervention reflects the Commission’s unwavering dedication to fostering a sanctuary of respect and equity for athletes statewide.

Guiding this cause is Advocate Ashu Pathak, renowned for his expertise in arbitration, commercial litigation, and corporate law. With a distinguished career spanning collaborations with central government standing counsel, law firms, and cabinet ministers, Pathak brings unparalleled insight into sectors such as EPC, banking, insurance, and international commercial arbitration.

The sanctity of sports must be preserved through rigorous adherence to legal and ethical standards, remarked Pathak. This order heralds a new era of accountability and protection for athletes.
