Dehradun, 8 Jan: In a significant decision linked to the Ankita Bhandari case, the State Government has renamed the Government Nursing College, Dobh (Shrikot), Pauri as Ankita Bhandari Government Nursing College, Dobh (Shrikot), Pauri. The decision was implemented with immediate effect on the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and a formal government order in this regard was also issued today.
The office memorandum announcing the change of name has been issued by Dr R Rajesh Kumar, Secretary, Medical Health and Medical Education Department. The renaming of the institution has been carried out as a mark of respect and in recognition of the widespread public sentiment demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari.
It is pertinent to recall that the CM had met Ankita Bhandari’s parents a day earlier and had reiterated that the State Government stands firmly with the bereaved family. During the meeting, the CM had also assured them that lawful, impartial and expeditious action would be taken on the demands placed before the government by Ankita Bhandari’s parents. He had stated that ensuring justice for Ankita Bhandari remains the highest priority of the State Government.
