Agartala, 2 Jan: Former Member of Parliament and Chairman of the organisation for Northeast Indian Youth, Tarun Vijay, called on Tripura Governor Indrasen Reddy and the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in Agartala on Thursday to discuss the recent murder of engineer Angel Chakma in Uttarakhand. It may be recalled that Chakma was a native of Tripura and was working as an engineer in Dehradun. He was murdered recently in what has been claimed to be a racial crime by a group of young men.

During the meeting, Vijay conveyed the deep sorrow felt across Uttarakhand over the tragic killing and urged the Tripura leadership to support calls for stringent action against the accused. He assured the Governor that the Uttarakhand Government is committed to ensuring justice and will pursue the matter with utmost seriousness.

Vijay also expressed his intention to visit Chakma’s native village, Puintuj, to personally convey solidarity and share the grief of the bereaved community.  The BJP leader stated that the pain of the Chakma people is the pain of everyone in Uttarakhand and across the country. Any disrespect towards the community is an insult to Bharat Mata and must be condemned unequivocally.

Governor Reddy and Chief Minister Saha appreciated Vijay’s efforts and reiterated their commitment to national unity and communal harmony. They also lauded the spirit of brotherhood between Uttarakhand and Tripura and emphasised the importance of mutual respect and cultural integration.
