New Delhi, 11 Dec: The Union Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, on Thursday replied in the Rajya Sabha to an unstarred question put up by Member of Parliament Mahendra Bhatt regarding the plan for the upcoming Maha Kumbh in Haridwar. The Union Minister replied that the Ministry of Tourism extends Financial Assistance to the State Governments/UT Administrations for the promotion of fairs and festivals in the States / UTs, on the basis of proposals received from them, under the Scheme guidelines of Domestic Promotion and Hospitality (DPPH).
Shekhawat added the Ministry has not received any proposal from the State Government, till date, for the Maha Kumbh to be held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, under the said scheme.
