Dehradun, 31 Jan: The Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), established by the Government of Uttarakhand, has emerged as a powerful instrument for innovation, transparency, and digital monitoring in the state’s education system. Through this pioneering initiative, student learning outcomes, teacher training, and the monitoring of departmental schemes have been made data-driven, resulting in significant improvements in teaching quality, attendance, training, and resource management.
Officials from the School Education Department stated that under the guidance of Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, comprehensive reforms are being implemented across the state’s education system. As part of these reforms and in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, the Vidya Samiksha Kendra has been established. Through this centre, the education system in the state is being made more transparent, accountable, and outcome-oriented.
Officials added that continuous monitoring of students’ weekly learning progress is being carried out through the Vidya Samiksha Kendra. Under the Saksham programme, subject-wise quizzes and remedial learning material are being provided. Additionally, real-time student attendance is being recorded through the “Meri Upasthiti” chatbot. This enables timely identification of consistently absent students and early intervention, thereby helping to reduce dropout rates.
For teachers, the “Shikshak Sahayak” chatbot has proven to be highly useful, providing access to lesson plans, worksheets, and instructional videos. Alongside this, teachers are being imparted technical and subject-specific training through the e-Srijan platform. So far, 92 percent of teachers have completed the training, marking a major achievement in the direction of capacity building in the state. In addition, on-site mentoring by CRPs and BRPs is also being monitored through the Vidya Samiksha Kendra.
Officials further stated that to provide parents with information about departmental schemes in simple language, the “Jigyasa” chatbot has been launched under the Vidya Samiksha Kendra. Along with this, initiatives such as IFA and NDD tablet distribution, digitization of aptitude test scores, and U-DISE+ based analysis have also been introduced, enabling data-driven decision-making in scheme implementation. Private and aided schools are also being integrated with this platform to ensure the holistic development of every child in the state.
To further enhance transparency and effectiveness in the assessment system, new initiatives have been undertaken through the Vidya Samiksha Kendra. From February 2026, diagnostic assessments for Grades 4 to 9 and the NIPUN Endline Assessment for Grades 1 and 2 will involve OCR-based scanning of answer sheets. Teachers will be able to evaluate online, resulting in time savings and the availability of assessment reports within 2 to 3 days.
“The Vidya Samiksha Kendra is a historic initiative towards aligning the state’s education system with future requirements. Through technology and data, it has now become possible not only to continuously monitor students’ learning processes but also to ensure timely availability of essential resources and training for teachers. This is making the education system more transparent, accountable, and effective,” stated Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of School Education, Uttarakhand.
