Dehradun, 24 Dec: On the directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, new measures have been implemented to ensure smoother traffic management and to maintain law and order in Mussoorie. These measures have been implemented particularly keeping the Winter Yatra in view. The district administration claims that the measures implemented aim to enhance facilities for the general public, visitors, and tourists.
Instructions have been issued for development of satellite parking at Hathi Paon (George Everest Road), Bassaghat, and Kuthal Gate, along with permanent parking facilities at KinCraig. The responsibility of overseeing the construction of parking spaces divided by vehicle type and systematic parking of vehicles has been handed over to ADM Mussoorie, PWD, RTO (E), District Tourism Development Officer, Dehradun, SP Traffic, and SP City, Dehradun.
The Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement), Dehradun, has been directed to maintain records of the number of passengers using shuttle services and the trips made by shuttle service providers. This officer would also be required to manage the shuttle service booth, ensure a sufficient number of shuttles, and control the service providers at the parking locations.
The Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and the CO Mussoorie would be overseeing maintenance of order at the parking sites, and for directing vehicles to parking areas, and ensuring passenger vehicles operate without inconvenience.
Basic facilities and necessary arrangements at the parking sites, such as lighting, mobile toilets, and drinking water, would be ensured to avoid disruption of law and order. The Executive Officer of Municipal Corporation, Mussoorie, and the Additional Municipal Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Dehradun, would make arrangements for sufficient rickshaws and golf carts for passengers travelling to the Library Chowk and Picture Palace via shuttle service from the parking facilities. The Superintendent of Police (City) Dehradun would ensure the safety of tourists and the smooth operation of the traffic system.
In case of any order violations, action can be taken under Section 223 of the BNS. This order will be effective till 20 January 2025.
