Dehradun, 28 Sep: Under the joint auspices of the Doon University Student Council and the State Bank of India (SBI), a national flag was installed today, on a 100-foot-high pole at the Doon University campus.
Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and former Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Addressing the faculty members during the teacher dialogue program on the topic ‘Role of Teachers in Nation Building’ organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Chief Guest Koshyari remarked, “A correct understanding of the concept of a nation is imperative for the general public.” Inspiring the university’s new faculty members, he added that a correct and unbiased understanding of the nation can avert wars globally and foster balanced and sustainable development within the country. He noted that students can successfully fulfill their responsibilities as accountable citizens only when they develop an understanding of human values and culture, and the role of teachers in instilling these values is paramount.
On this occasion, Professor Surekha Dangwal, Vice Chancellor of Doon University, welcomed the Chief Guest and presented an overview of the university’s recent academic and research achievements. The Vice Chancellor expressed optimism that the university will continue to elevate its teaching and research endeavors to new heights with equal momentum and dedication in the future.
Student Union President Anshuman Nautiyal and former Student Union President Abhishek Thalwal also shared their views, urging the youth to ensure an active role in the noble cause of nation-building.
The ceremony was conducted by Dean, Student Welfare (DSW), Professor HC Purohit. The event witnessed the presence of Registrar Durgesh Dimri, Dean of the School of Media and Communication Studies Professor Rajesh Kumar, Dean of the School of Management Professor Gajendra Singh, Dean of the School of Environment and Natural Resources Professor Sunit Naithani, Dean of the School of Languages Professor Chetna Pokhriyal, Professor Surendra Suthar, Professor Reena Singh, along with all faculty members, officials, and a large number of students.
