3 railway stations of U’khand will be redeveloped at a cost of over Rs 40 crores: CM

Dehradun, 26 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the redevelopment of Tanakpur, Kashipur and Kotdwar railway stations in virtual mode from the Assembly building, here, today.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav and observed that the huge work done by the Prime Minister by laying the foundation stone for redevelopment of 554 railway stations across the country has created another new record in the country today.

Dhami further stated that, with the redevelopment of these three railway stations selected for redevelopment in Uttarakhand at a cost of more than Rs 40 crores, it would not only improve rail connectivity to the Kumaon region, but the passengers would also be able to get state-of-the-art facilities at the stations. He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the country is moving towards the golden era of Indian Railways. The Indian Railways is being prepared to meet the aspirations of new and self-reliant India. The Chief Minister said that, today, while Indian Railways has been made safer than ever by eliminating unmanned rail crossings from broad gauge railway lines, the speed of the trains has also increased significantly as compared to the past. As a symbol of self-reliance and modernity, made in India trains like Vande Bharat are becoming a part of the rail network and the work of connecting the untouched parts of the country with the rail network is also going on at a fast pace.

Dhami said that a lot of work has been done in Uttarakhand with the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and the cooperation of the Central Government. The dream of taking trains to the mountains is going to come true soon in Uttarakhand. Due to the foresight and clear vision of the Prime Minister, today more than 50 percent work on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line has been completed. He said that the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme launched by the Prime Minister is a reflection of the redevelopment of railway stations and changing India.

He said that the way infrastructure is being strengthened not only in Railways but also in other sectors is unprecedented. Today, Indian Railways, its changing nature, challenges the rail networks of developed countries. Seeing this gives a sense of pride, the visible proof of which is the Vande Bharat train and now other countries have also started demanding this train.

He said that the Prime Minister has also given Uttarakhand the gift of operating the Vande Bharat train between Dehradun and Anand Vihar. He said that, today, railways are becoming modern, facilities are being made world class, railway stations are being developed with “modern vision” but with a touch of Indian cultural heritage.
