Dehradun, 11 Feb: A new three-tier academic cadre structure will be established under the School Education Department in the state. The proposal will soon be brought before the Cabinet for approval. In addition, a requisition will be sent to the State Public Service Commission to fill 222 vacant Lecturer cadre posts in District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), enabling permanent appointments to these positions. Free textbooks will also be made available in all schools across the state before the commencement of the new academic session.

State School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat chaired a review meeting of the Education Department at his official residence, here, today. Expressing displeasure over the delay in forming a three-tier teacher structure in the state—on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalayas—he directed departmental officials to prepare the proposal promptly and present it before the Cabinet.

He further instructed officials to send a requisition to the State Public Service Commission to fill the long-pending 222 vacant Lecturer posts in DIETs across all districts, so that lecturers currently posted on deputation against these posts can be repatriated to their parent departments.

The Minister issued strict directions to ensure that government-provided free textbooks reach all schools before the start of the new academic session. He warned that action would be taken against officials if textbooks are not supplied on time.

Additionally, he directed officials to expedite the process of structuring and framing the regulations for SCERT. Dr Rawat also instructed the department to accelerate the recruitment process for Group D employees, provide preference in recruitment to family members of those who have donated land for the establishment of schools and colleges, and seek proposals from MLAs for the upgradation of two schools in each VS constituency for early submission to the government.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary MM Semwal, Director of Primary Education Ajay Kumar Naudiyal, Director of Secondary Education Dr Mukul Sati, Deputy Secretary Vikas Srivastava, Additional Director Padmendra Saklani, and other departmental officials.
