33rd Induction Ceremony & Annual Prize Distribution held at Pestle Weed School

Dehradun, 6 May: ‘The Pestle Weed School’ held its 33rd Induction Ceremony and Annual Prize Distribution coupled with Alumni Reunion for its students and those of Children’s Academy, here, on Sunday.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Major General Yashpal Singh Ahlawat, MGGS Operations Northern Command, an alumnus of the Children’s Academy 1985 batch. He was accompanied by his wife, Renu, an academician with nearly 3 decades of experience.

Welcoming the Chief Guest, School Chairman Dr Prem Kashyap expressed his pride in having his student of yesteryears come back as an illustriously decorated Army Officer.

The ceremony began with the distribution of academic excellence awards to the students of the school and college. Renu Singh graciously gave away the prizes to the students of the Junior Section and awards to the senior children.

The newly instituted Student Council was conferred its badges and administered the Oath of commitment, dedication and endurance.

The student council walked in bearing a lamp to dispel the darkness of ignorance and invoke supreme blessings to imbibe, inculcate and uphold the Motto of the School: Introspect, Create, Nurture and Succeed.

The cultural programme was a kaleidoscope of colours depicting the rich diversity through the dances from across the length and breadth of the country. The schools girls performed a dance that enthralled all in the school open air amphitheatre, ‘The Throbbing Stone’. There was a light & sound drama, ‘Sone ki Gudiya’, which had the tiny tots dressed as beautiful butterflies, flowers and monkeys. The junior boys with their chicken dance brought smiles to everyone’s faces. World Laughter Day (5 May) was celebrated with a mime presentation by the senior boys on the distraction the mobile offers today.

The grand finale of the evening was a Diya Dance put up the by the Pestle Weed School and College.

Major General Yashpal Singh Ahlawat applauded the versatility of the institutions run under the auspices of Children Academy’s Association. He recalled his days spent as a student under the guidance of Dr Prem Kashyap and Kiran Kashyap, the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the dreams nurtured by the teachers.

He said, “It is a matter of pride to see the students being awarded for their performance and every achievement and such appreciations act as a spur for further progress and achievement.”

Major General Shammi Sabarwal (Retd), President, Management Committee, proposed the vote of thanks. Those present on the occasion included Dr Khemraj Bhatt, Vice Chancellor, Sridev Suman Garhwal University, Anil Mehra, Dr Rajesh Tiwari, Member, Board of Governors, and Dr SC Biala.
