Pantnagar, 9 Apr: The three-day 58th Annual Sports Meet of the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology commenced at Stevenson Stadium with the hoisting of the flag by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Manmohan Singh Chauhan. On this occasion, he took the salute and reviewed the march past presented by students residing in the 23 hostels of the university. With the Vice-Chancellor formally declaring the sports meet open, various competitions began. Students from different hostels participated in the march past in colorful attire, accompanied by the tune of “Saare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara” played by Saraswati Shishu Mandir students, drawing loud applause from the audience.
Following this, female students presented vibrant cultural performances. Vice-Chancellor Prof Manmohan Singh Chauhan extended his wishes to all organisers and participants for the successful organisation of the 58th Annual Sports Meet.
The competitions include events such as 800 metres and 100 metres races (men and women), shot put (men), long jump (women), 200 metres race (men and women), 4×400 relay (men and women), and 10,000 metres race (men).
On this occasion, Registrar Dr Deepa Vinay, Dean, Student Welfare, Dr AS Jeena, Officer-in-Charge Physical Education Dr GS Bohra along with deans, directors, hostel wardens, and students from various colleges were present. Dr Poonam Tyagi, Dr Bhaskar Tiwari, Dr HS Papola, Staff Counsellor Dr AP Singh, Dr Ritika Bhatt and all referees made significant contributions to the successful conduct of the competitions. The session was moderated by Dr KP Singh.
