665 Cusecs Water sought from UP for Iqbalpur Canal

Dehradun, 25 Oct: The Uttrarakhand Minister for Tourism, Public Works, Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Watershed Management, Religious Affairs, and Culture, Satpal Maharaj, met the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, to discuss critical irrigation issues. During this meeting, Maharaj requested that the Iqbalpur Canal in Haridwar district be allocated 665 cusecs of water. He also sought the immediate cleaning of irrigation canals in Uttarakhand that are maintained by Uttar Pradesh.

Maharaj emphasised the need to reopen some closed irrigation canals in both states to alleviate the irrigation problems faced by farmers. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Adityanath for Uttar Pradesh’s cooperation in the construction of the Jamrani Dam.
