Dehradun, 21 May: The 6th Edition of ‘Summer at Doon’ (S@D) started today at The Doon School, in which 76 boys and girls of classes 9 to 12 from 14 states of India and 5 students of Royal Academy of Bhutan have come to get an experience of the Doon School life over the next two weeks.
The Chief Guest at the opening ceremony was Kunwar Bharetendra Singh, former Minister of State for Irrigation in UP and presently a Lok Sabha MP from Bijnor. He is also an ex-student of the Doon School. Also present were Headmaster Matthew Raggett, Deputy Headmaster Kamal Ahuja, Wing Commander Anupma Joshi (Retd), Director, Personnel, Stuti Kuthiala, Deputy Head of Pastoral Care, Debashish Chakravarty, Deputy Head of Academics, along with Piyush Malaviya, Director, Public Affairs, and Abia Qezilbash, the Coordinator of the programme. Over the next two weeks, apart from going through the regular Doon School routine of playing games, producing plays, performing music, etc., these students would visit HESCO, RIMC, Kaanataal, Surkanda Devi and, in the end, go river rafting.
The programme is becoming increasingly popular over the years, according to Piyush Malaviya, Director, Public Affairs.
