Dehradun, 18 Feb: Retired Principal Ravindra Kumar Saini, who has also been honoured with a state award, has submitted a formal representation to Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami seeking urgent intervention in connection with the inordinate delay in sanction and release of his pension following retirement.
Saini had superannuated on 31 August 2025 from Shri Guru Ram Rai Inter College (SGRR Inter College) in Sahaspur, Dehradun, where he had been serving as Principal. Despite the lapse of nearly six months since his retirement, his pension has neither been formally sanctioned nor commenced, resulting in considerable financial hardship and mental distress. He has stated that the continued delay has caused avoidable inconvenience at a stage of life when financial stability is of paramount importance.
Saini has also reminded that during his long and distinguished tenure in the field of education, he discharged his duties with dedication, transparency and a deep sense of responsibility, for which he was conferred the State Award. Apart from his academic contributions, he has also remained active in public life and has held several important assignments. He has served as Member of Parliament’s Representative to Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, as former Public Relations Officer to former Chief Minister BC Khanduri, as former State Convenor of the BJP Teachers’ Cell, and as former MP Representative (Education) to Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
In his communication, Saini has clarified that the present Principal of the institution from which he retired and the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of the Dehradun are known to be upright and conscientious officers. In such circumstances, he has observed, the delay in processing his pension case raises serious administrative concerns that warrant scrutiny at the appropriate level.
Saini has urged that the department concerned be directed to ensure immediate sanction and disbursement of his pension without further delay. He has further sought that responsibility be fixed upon the officer or dealing clerk found accountable for the lapse and that necessary disciplinary proceedings be initiated in accordance with rules. Additionally, the retired principal has also requested that the pension amount due for the delayed period be paid along with admissible interest as per government norms.
Expressing faith in the constitutional and administrative leadership of the State, Saini has conveyed confidence that timely and just intervention by the Governor and the Chief Minister will secure expeditious relief in his case and also help prevent recurrence of similar hardship for other retired employees in future.
