Dehradun, 27 Mar: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande today addressed a press conference at the Secretariat media centre, at which he disclosed that an intensive mapping campaign under the pre-Special Intensive Revision (Pre-SIR) phase would be launched from 1 April, with a focused effort on booths where mapping remains incomplete. Jogdande also shared a detailed update on the preparations and progress related to the upcoming Special Intensive Revision programme.

He said that under the guidance of Chief Electoral Officer BVRC Purushottam, the state has already achieved more than 85 per cent mapping in the pre-SIR phase. He stated that the remaining work will be taken up through a more rigorous door-to-door campaign beginning in April, with special focus on polling booths where mapping levels are still low. The objective, he said, is to ensure complete and accurate mapping ahead of the revision exercise.

Jogdande further explained that, in line with the directions of the Election Commission of India, an Absentee, Shifted and Dead (ASD) list is being prepared for each polling booth. This exercise is aimed at ensuring a more thorough and effective purification of the electoral rolls by identifying and removing ineligible entries.

Highlighting the voter facilitation measures, he said that the Election Commission has introduced a “Book a Call with BLO” feature, enabling voters to connect with their Booth Level Officer through a single click. Voters can access this facility by visiting the official website https://voters.eci.gov.in or by downloading the ECI-NET mobile application and booking a call. Once the request is registered, the BLO concerned will contact the voter within two days.

Jogdande also urged all the political parties to ensure the appointment of Booth Level Agents at all polling stations to strengthen the electoral process. He noted that against a total of 11,733 polling booths in the state, a total of 19,116 BLAs have been appointed so far by various political parties. Of these, 9,276 have been appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, 9,506 by the Congress, 217 by CPI (M) and 117 by the Bahujan Samaj Party.

He emphasised the importance of achieving 100 per cent BLA appointment to ensure better coordination and transparency in electoral roll management. Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das were also present on the occasion.
