Dehradun, 27 Mar: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) reached Pithoragarh today on a one-day visit. He was warmly received at Naini-Saini Airport by District Magistrate Ashish Kumar Bhatgain, who presented him with a bouquet. On this occasion, Superintendent of Police Akshay Konde, Additional District Magistrate Yogendra Singh, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jitendra Verma were also present. Subsequently, the Governor was accorded a Guard of Honour by the police department. He then inspected various stalls set up in the airport premises by the Rural Development Department, Tourism Department, District Industries Centre, and “House of Himalayas”, among others. During the visit, he gathered information about local products, self-employment activities, and the implementation of government schemes.

The Governor appreciated the packaging of the products and expressed satisfaction over the increase in women’s income. He encouraged officials and self-help groups to further improve their efforts. He also suggested greater use of digital platforms to expand market access for local products.
On this occasion, the Governor interacted with officials from various departments present at Naini-Saini Airport. He also engaged with children, inquiring about their aspirations and motivating them to work diligently toward achieving their goals, while offering his blessings.
Thereafter, the Governor reviewed various development schemes being implemented in the district. He emphasised the need to ensure that welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely and effective manner.
The Governor stated that effective and transparent implementation of schemes is essential to promote holistic development and self-reliance in rural areas.
